So while we were tucking in to the first of many, many Easter eggs on Saturday, the internet exploded with the news that Tenth Doctor David Tennant and his much loved Tardismate Billie Piper are set to return to the Whoniverse for Doctor Who's 50th anniversary special.
But while the Beeb has confirmed the news, we actually know very little about the circumstances regarding the former doctor and Rose Tyler's return. We do know that the pair will join the rest of the cast and crew as filming of the 60-minute special begins this week.
Matt Smith has promised fans they "will not be disappointed" by the story, saying: "It manages to pay homage to everything - and look forward."
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy actor John Hurt will also co-star in the episode, which will get a limited worldwide 3D cinema release.
We may have to wait until November to see the special, but in the meantime the Whogoodness continues on BBC One as the Eleventh Doctor and his new companion Clara adventure in space and time.
And there's plenty more Easter eggs to enjoy - though not of the chocolate variety.
For example, did we all notice that the book featured in Saturday's returning episode, The Bells of Saint John, was penned by one Amelia Williams? Surely we can't be the only ones that did a squeal?
Well, following the success of The Angel’s Kiss: A Melody Malone Mystery – an ebook based on the fictional novel, as seen in the episode The Angels Take Manhattan – BBC Books is following it up with the real world release of another fictional piece of fiction. Doctor Who: Summer Falls by Amelia Williams will be published by BBC Books on Thursday 4 April, priced £1.99. The summary reads thus:
And, of course, there's next week's instalment in which the Doctor and Clara visit the inhabited rings of the planet Akhaten, where the Festival of Offerings is in full swing. Clara meets the young Queen of Years as the pilgrims and natives ready for the ceremony. But something is stirring in the pyramid, and a sacrifice will be demanded.

"In the seaside village of Watchcombe, young Kate is determined to make the most of her last week of summer holiday. But when she discovers a mysterious painting entitled ‘The Lord of Winter’ in a charity shop, it leads her on an adventure she never could have planned. Kate soon realises the old seascape, painted long ago by an eccentric local artist, is actually a puzzle. And with the help of some bizarre new acquaintances – including a museum curator’s magical cat, a miserable neighbour, and a lonely boy – she plans on solving it.Whether Summer Falls has anything whatsoever to do with the current series remains to be seen, but we reckon it's nonetheless worth a read.
And then, one morning Kate wakes up to a world changed forever. For the Lord of Winter is coming – and Kate has a very important decision to make."
