According to The Wrap, Pace is considering signing up to play the villain of the piece, though which baddie he'll be is being kept schtum.
Word on the grapevine is that Pace initially considered for the role of Peter Quill aka Star Lord, which ultimately went to Chris Pratt. But Marvel were so impressed with the actor's audition, they kept him in mind for later casting.
Production on the film, which also stars Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Ophelia Lovibond as a servant of the Collector and Michael Rooker as Yondu, will start in June with a planned release date of 1 August, 2014.
