In stark contrast to Thor and The Avengers villain Loki (Tom Hiddleston - *swoon*), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje's antagonist for the superhero sequel will be a brutal, physical being according to the actor.
The former Lost star takes on the part of Algrim the Strong for The Dark World, a powerful Dark Elf who is persuaded to battle the God of Thunder (Chris Hemsworth). After a betrayal leads to his injury in battle, Algrim is healed and transformed into the far more powerful Kurse.
"It's almost like he's made out of stone," Akinnuoye-Agbaje told The Los Angeles Times of the transformation. "It's an amalgamation of a bull and a lava-like creature.
"He has very animalistic tendencies but with this insatiable and unstoppable power. As an actor, that's one of the hardest things to embody. You have to realise you are probably the most powerful thing you could imagine.
"And you have to be that. You can't pretend, so that when you face Thor, it's real."
Thor: The Dark World will arrive in cinemas on November 8, 2013.
